Behaviour earns Best Managed Companies’ Gold Standard award
Behaviour Interactive, the largest Canadian video game studio, is proud to announce its recognition today as a Gold Standard winner in the 2023 Canada’s Best Managed Companies awards program.
Organizations that have maintained their Best Managed Companies designation for three consecutive years are eligible for Gold Standard recognition. To win, a company must pass a rigorous, independent evaluation of its business strategy, culture, and performance for the highest standards in innovation and leadership.
Since Behaviour was first designated a Best Managed Company in 2020, the Montreal-based developer has opened or acquired studios in Toronto (Behaviour Toronto), Seattle (Midwinter Entertainment), and the United Kingdom (Behaviour UK–North) and more than doubled the size of its team to 1,200 employees. Behaviour is currently expanding its portfolio of original games beyond its flagship Dead by Daylight franchise with multiple projects, including Meet Your Maker, which was released in April to critical acclaim. Behaviour also continues to expand its reputation as one of the world’s foremost providers of external development services, partnering with many of the gaming industry’s leaders, including Microsoft, Sony, EA, Warner, Netflix, and Take-Two, among many others.
“Behaviour has experienced significant growth over the last three years and we’ve worked hard to ensure this evolution does not come at the expense of our people-first culture and values,” says Rémi Racine, CEO and Executive Producer of Behaviour Interactive. “Being recognized with Gold Standard status speaks clearly to our performance and is a tribute to the daily efforts of our entire team to uphold our reputation for innovation, excellence, and work-life balance.”
To be considered for a Canada’s Best Managed Company award, a company must be Canadian headquartered or Canadian-owned and managed. Hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation each year and the winners are selected based on the quality of their management practices, workplace culture, and financial performance.
“This year’s Best Managed winners displayed courage, resourcefulness, and creativity as they explored new avenues for advancement,” said Lorrie King, partner at Deloitte Private and co-leader for Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “We’re extremely proud to recognize the impressive achievements of companies such as Behaviour Interactive in this particularly rapidly evolving business world. Their successes demonstrate the importance of strong leadership and forethought in driving long-term growth.”
